ASEAN Academic Days in MGIMO 2020: online-lecture “Russia in Southeast Asia” by Bilahari Kausikan

MGIMO University and the ASEAN Centre invites students and experts, officials and entrepreneurs, all those who are genuinely interested in Southeast Asian Studies and research on Russia-ASEAN relations to the series of online-lectures and events “ASEAN Academic Days 2020”. The first guest lecturer is a prominent Singaporean diplomat, the Chairman of the Institute of the Middle East at the National University of Singapore Bilahari Kausikan. The event will take place on September 25, 2020.

The speaker will share his views on the current dynamics and trends in Southeast Asia as well as on the future prospects of the ASEAN-Russia strategic partnership.

Bilahari Kausikan is currently the Chairman of the Middle East Institute, an autonomous institute of the National University of Singapore. He has spent his entire career in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. During his 37 years in the Ministry, he served in a variety of appointments at home and abroad, including as Ambassador to the Russian Federation, Permanent Representative to the UN in New York, and as the Permanent Secretary to the Ministry. Raffles Institution, the University of Singapore and Columbia University in New York all attempted to educate him.

The online lecture will be via Zoom platform on September 25, 2020 (Friday) at 10:30 AM (Moscow time).
