MGIMO Participates in Meeting of the Valdai Club

October 16th, the XIV yearly meeting of the Valdai International Discussion Club started in Sochi. MGIMO is one of the founders of the Valdai Club and actively takes part in the events it organizes.

The meeting was kicked off with a special session dedicated to the annual report of the Valdai Club «The Importance of Being Ernest: How to Avoid Irreparable Damage» which reviews the changes underway in the international system and makes suggestions to reduce major risks. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and the co-author of the report, also Program Director at the Valdai Club Andrey Sushentsov participated in the discussion.

The opening day was attended by MGIMO Rector Anatoly Torkunov, the Head of Department of International Relations and Foreign Policy of Russia Boris Martynov, Professor Alexander Revyakin, the Deputy Director for Research of the European Studies Institute Professor Oleg Barabanov and other members of the faculty.
