MGIMO Delegation at Trianon Week in Paris

March 13th-16th, France hosted a series of events of the Franco-Russian forum of civil societies, the «Trianon Dialogue», which was launched at the initiative of Presidents Vladimir Putin and Emmanuel Macron.

March 15th, the Paris Book exhibition «Salon du Livre» started and was attended by a Russian delegation including the Ambassador to France Alexei Meshkov, MGIMO Rector and Co-chairman of the «Trianon Dialogue» Anatoly Torkunov, the Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee for International Affairs Anatoly Karpov, the General Director of VCIOM Valery Fedorov and many former ambassadors and high ranking civil servants.

On the same day, a delegation from MGIMO went to the Paris Institute of Political Sciences (Sciences Po), for a meeting with its Rector Frederic Mion and the Vice-Rector for International Affairs, Francis Verillaud. On the Russian side, MGIMO Rector Anatoly Torkunov, the Vice-Rector for General Affairs Artem Malgin, Ambassador Aleksander Orlov and the Chairperson of the MGIMO Alumni Association in France Olga Shetinina participated in the interview. The sides agreed to organize on the 1st and 2nd of November a meeting of MGIMO alumni living in France and graduates of the joint MGIMO-Sciences Po MA Program.

The «Trianon Week» comprised a number of cultural, scientific and diplomatic events including a meeting at Cannes to discuss the main theme of the forum in 2018, the «City of the Future» and a discussion session at the Russian Orthodox Spiritual and Cultural Center in Paris dedicated to Russian-French relations. «Trianon Dialogue» events in France came to a close with a reception at the residence of the Russian Ambassador, where the Special Representative of the President of Russia for International Cultural Cooperation, Mikhail Shvydkoy, gave a speech on bilateral cooperation.
