Ambassador of Serbia Attends Round Table at MGIMO

November 29th, within the framework of the round-table on the «Culture of Serbia and Current International Relations», the Ambassador of Serbia, also a famous historian and a Corresponding Member of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts, Slavenko Terzic, came to MGIMO to deliver a lecture to students and members of the faculty.

The Ambassador was greeted by MGIMO’s Vice-Rector for Graduate and International Programs Andrey Baykov. During their interview, the sides spoke about bilateral cooperation in education and the prospects for expanding the partnership between MGIMO and Belgrade University. The parties noted the importance of studying the Serbian language, for mutually beneficial projects to flourish in all spheres.

Slavenko Terzic also gave a talk on the «Culture of Serbia in the Modern World», in which he described Serbian politics and diplomacy, offering a historical overview of Serbia’s specificities. The Ambassador then spoke about the current state of Serbian-Russian relations and Serbia’s different international ties. After the lecture, the guest took questions from the audience and expressed the desire for this conference to take place on a yearly basis.

During the round table, MGIMO professors and students made presentations on a myriad of topics, including the development of the Serbian language, the challenge of preserving the cultural heritage of Serbia, contemporary Russian-Serbian relations, Serbia and the EU, Serbia’s national identity and educational system.
