Sciences-Po and MGIMO Hold Joint Conference in Paris

15 December 2016

December 12th, an international scientific conference on «French and Russian diplomacy in times of crisis» unfolded at the CERI research center of Sciences-Po (Paris Institute of Political Science). The event was the fruit of the two universities cooperation.

Experts from the two research centers have made it a tradition, over the last twenty years, to hold annual meetings in which they exchange views on contemporary International Relations questions. Alongside their scientific cooperation, the two universities have been operating since 1994 a joint Master’s program.

After a two-year break, the regular franco-russian conference opened anew in Paris and the discussions were organized in four panels dealing with foreign policy and bilateral relations between France and Russia, International security issues, the outcome of the Obama Administration’s foreign policy and China’s place in the international system. In his welcome words, Sciences-Po’s Vice-President Francis Vérillaud underlined the importance of upholding the cooperation between the two universities in times of international turmoil.

On MGIMO’s side, the University’s Vice-Rector for Graduate and International Studies Andrey Baykov, the Vice-Rector for Scientific Work Evgeny Kozhokin, the Dean of the School of Political Affairs Alexei Voskresensky, along with Professor Evgenya Obichkina and Associate Professor Mikhail Troitsky participated in the event. The Sciences-Po faculty members Benoît d’Aboville, Anne de Tinguy, Frédéric Ramel, François Godement took part in the discussions, joined by professors from a number of other French institutions and research centers.

The next conference is scheduled to be held in 2017 at MGIMO.
