Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov Gives Talk at MGIMO

October 24th, in the framework of the activities of MGIMO’s A.G.Karlov Diplomatic Club, the Russian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Ryabkov delivered a lecture on the current state of Russian-American relations.

During his opening speech, the Deputy Foreign Minister described bilateral relations between Russia and the United States, highlighting each country’s position on issues such as non-proliferation and arms control. The guest then took questions from the audience and engaged in a lively discussion with students of the University.

A myriad of topical issues from the international agenda were discussed including the work of anti-Russian lobbies in the United States, the investigation of chemical attacks in Syria, the situation surrounding the ban of Russian RD-180 engines in the United States, the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, the arms race in space, the nuclear challenge on the Korean peninsula. After the discussion, the Deputy Minister remarked on the high level of expertise of students of the University.
