MGIMO Delegation Visits Nazarbayev University

On the first day of the Fourth Forum of MGIMO Graduates in Astana, a delegation from MGIMO University led by its Rector Anatoly Torkunov, were the guests of Kazakhstan’s most prestigious educational institution, Nazarbayev University, where they participated in an expert discussion on Kazakhstan’s development strategy and mulled over topics relating to cooperation in education.

During the meeting, MGIMO representatives described the University’s international programs and spoke about the cooperation agreements and dual degrees MGIMO has with many foreign universities the world over. The guests also gave a detailed depiction of the first English language BA program in Russia, launched by MGIMO several years ago. This program has been designed for pupils who graduated from high school abroad, but also welcomes students for internships.

Representatives of Nazarbayev University spoke about their institution’s academic and research priorities. The University currently has eight schools (Engineering, Science and Technology, Humanities and Social Sciences, Business, Public Policy, Education, Medicine, Mining and Earth Sciences) and a Center for pre-university programs. All the schools have prestigious international partners, with which they conduct joint research and student exchanges.
