Mexican Ambassador Comes to MGIMO

March 21st, the University’s Vice-Rector for Graduate and International Programs, Andrey Baykov, received the Ambassador of Mexico to Russia Norma Pensado Moreno.

During their meeting, the parties discussed MGIMO’s fruitful cooperation with the Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education, which started over a decade ago. Within the framework of the partnership agreement, a group of Mexican students is currently studying at MGIMO.

Norma Pensado Moreno suggested that MGIMO also collaborate with the National Autonomous University of Mexico and other major Mexican universities. The Ambassador remarked upon the high quality of the education delivered at MGIMO and explained that she had been impressed by the professionalism and excellent command of foreign languages of the graduates of our University she had met during her career.

After the meeting, Norma Pensado Moreno gave a talk to students of the University, covering a number of topics including Mexico’s foreign and domestic policies, its relations with the United States, Europe and Latin America; as well as its bilateral relations with Russia. The speaker took questions from the audience, and commented on the forthcoming elections in Mexico, bilateral trade and the milestones of her career, which led her to become an ambassador.
