MGIMO in Top 100 QS World Ranking by Subject for Politics and International Studies

February 28th, the international rating agency QS published the 2018 issue of the world ranking of universities by subject. This year, in all, 1130 universities from 151 countries were considered for 48 different fields of academic study. MGIMO entered the top hundred of the world’s best universities for the subject «Politics and International Studies».

In the ranking, the United States came out as the leader with 184 universities appearing in the final tables, followed by the UK (95 universities), China (74), France (59), Germany (56), Italy (43), Japan (42), Australia (34), South Korea (33), Brazil (27) and Canada (27).

The methodology the study is based on varies from one subject area to another. In the case of «Politics and International Studies», the following four criteria are considered: Academic Reputation (50% of the total score), Employer Reputation (30%), Citations per Paper (10%) and Hirsch Index Citations (10%).

As was the case in the audit of MGIMO recently performed by QS, the University performed exceptionally well in the Employer Reputation category, which assesses the quality of a university’s relationship with employers based on interviews with professionals in Russia and abroad.
