Ingvar Kamprad, founder of IKEA, has passed away

Ingvar Kamprad, the founder of IKEA, member of MGIMO Board of Trustees passed away on the 27th of January. We express our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Kamprad, to the whole staff of IKEA Corporation.

Ingvar Kamprad was born in 1926 in Småland in southern Sweden. At the early age of 17 he founded IKEA. The first store opened in 1958.

IKEA has been supporting MGIMO for many years, in the context of developing educational standards for higher education, in carrying out training in corporate governance. It is in no way an exaggeration to say that the success of these joint projects was due to Mr. Kamprad's personal involvement in their implementation.
