Israeli Minister for Social Equality at MGIMO

November 30th, the historian and professor at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, R. Israeli, gave a lecture devoted to Jewish immigration in the Middle East, and their exodus from Arab countries, Iran, and Turkey.

MGIMO holds in the framework of its course «The State of Israel: History and Modernity», lectures which offer a comprehensive understanding of modern Israel. This talk pursues a similar goal and attracted the interest of students from many different programs.

After the lecture, the guests visited an exhibition dedicated to the exodus of Jews from the Middle East. MGIMO Rector Anatoly Torkunov and the Ambassador of Israel to Russia Gary Koren participated in the opening ceremony. The Minister for Social Equality of Israel Gila Gamliel was the guest of honor of the event. During his visit to MGIMO, Ambassador Gary Coran also met with students of the University’s Jewish Club.
