MGIMO Rector Greets Governor of Tula region

October 23rd, the Governor of the Tula region Alexei Dyumin came to MGIMO for a meeting with the Rector of the University, Anatoly Torkunov and to give a talk to students. The visit was also the opportunity for MGIMO and the Administration of the Tula region to sign an Agreement on Cooperation.

The guest was introduced to an audience of students and faculty members by the Rector, who described the activities and initiatives of the Governor of the Tula region and remarked that, thanks to his creative approach, the region had become very attractive for investments.

Alexei Dyumin spoke highly of MGIMO, noting the excellent quality of education and the positive effect studying within this institution would have on students’ future careers. The Governor also urged students from Tula to return home after graduation and contribute to the development of the region. The Guest took questions from the audience, concerning the economic challenges in the region as well as environmental, cultural and social issues. Students expressed interest in employment opportunities and in the new projects underway in Tula.

During the visit, an Agreement on Cooperation between the University and the Administration of the Tula region was signed, paving the way to joint training of students and civil servants, talent promotion programs and partnerships between Tula corporations and MGIMO researchers.
