Russian Delegation Meets with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres

October 29th, the presentation of the 5th edition of the United Nations Association of Russia report «Russian Regions and the UN Sustainable Development Goals» took place on the sidelines of the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly. The Russian delegation had a meeting with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, then with Under-Secretary-General for Global Communications Alison Smale, before presenting the results of the report to a large audience at UN headquarters.

The Head of the UN Association of Russia program «Russia Regions and Sustainable Development», also First Deputy Chairman of the Association and Head of the UNESCO Chair at MGIMO University, Alexei Borisov, together with senior representatives of different Russian regions, presented the report to Antonio Guterres. The Secretary General applauded the efforts made by the Russian delegation and expressed his support for its implementation. The Chairman of the Russian Association of the United Nations, MGIMO Rector Anatoly Torkunov, sent his greetings to the participants.

The delegation was then greeted by Alison Smale, who supported the program from its outset. The Under-Secretary-General conveyed her thanks to the UN Association of Russia for their work promoting sustainable development. Finally, the delegation presented the report at the UN headquarters to the general public. The achievements of the different regions were discussed in detail and captured the interest of all present, as reflected by the abundance of questions from the audience.
