MGIMO Participates in Celebration of Jilin University’s 70th Anniversary

In September, on the occasion of its 70th Anniversary Jilin University, the largest University in China and MGIMO’s partner within the framework of BRICS Network University, invited a delegation from MGIMO to speak to students and participate in the festivities.

Jilin University counts 70 000 students and 8 000 Faculty members. In 2016, the University ranked 40th in the QS rating of the best BRICS universities. The delegation from MGIMO consisted of the University’s Vice-Rector for Graduate and International Programs, Andrey Baykov and the Deputy Dean of the Faculty of International Relations, Oleg Pichkov.

During the visit, the delegation presented MGIMO University at the exhibition of Jilin University’s partner institutions and discussed with the leadership of Jilin’s School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA) the next steps in view of implementing joint network programs. The sides agreed to launch in 2017 a master’s degree in multilateral diplomacy, in the framework of BRICS Network University and in partnership with the UN Institute for Training and Research.

During the official part of the visit, Andrey Baykov was bestowed the diploma of Honorary Professor of Jilin University by the first Vice-Rector of the Institution and made a speech to students at the ceremony kicking-off the academic year. Andrey Baykov also gave a lecture to students and faculty members of the Institute of International Relations and Diplomacy, regarding the geopolitical status of Russia and its foreign policy identity.
