International Energy Policy and Diplomacy Institute

International Energy Policy and Diplomacy Institute (MIEP MGIMO) is the only Russian educational institution that trains experts who possess fundamental academic knowledge and in-depth understanding of the processes in the fields of energy policy, geopolitics and international energy cooperation. The graduates are unique multi-lingual professionals who are in high demand on the labor market.

The Director of International Energy Policy and Diplomacy Institute is Professor Valery Salygin, Vice-President, International Fuel and Energy Development Academy; corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences; Doctor of Science (Technical); prominent scientist and expert in energy diplomacy and geopolitics, system analysis, corporate governance and international fuel and energy issues regulation. Professor Salygin has authored over 450 scientific papers and inventions, including seven monographs, and served as academic advisor to over forty doctors and candidates of sciences. He is twice winner of the USSR and Russian Federation State Awards in the field of science and technology. Among his numerous awards are the Order of Honor, the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, 4th class, and the Presidential Commendation Letter. His diplomatic rank is Minister-Counsellor. Valery Salygin has been elected an Oxford Academic Council Member.

Today, MIEP MGIMO is a major educational, tutorial and research center that provides a high quality academic and professional training based on the best traditions of Russian education and experience of leading world universities and business schools.

Given the  vital importance of MIEP MGIMO missions, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia established the Supervisory Board, chaired by Sergey Lavrov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, to oversee the development of the International Energy Policy and Diplomacy Institute. The Board includes heads of major Russian resource-producing jurisdictions as well as heads of leading Russian fuel and energy companies.
