Dale Mortensen addresses MGIMO Economics Students

2010 Nobel Laureate, Professor Dale Mortensen, addressed students at MGIMO on May 27.

Professor Mortensen of Northwestern University in the United States, became a Nobel prize winner with colleagues Christopher Pissarides and Peter Diamond, for their influential analysis of «search friction» in labour market dynamics, and is one of the world’s foremost authorities on the labour market and unemployment.

MGIMO experts participate at the First Russian-Swiss innovation forum

The First Russian-Swiss innovative forum took place in Lausanne on May 17. Initiated by Dr. Frederik Paulsen, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ferring Pharmaceuticals and Honorary Consul for the Russian Federation in Lausanne, the forum was organised by the Russian State Duma Committee on Industry, and the endowment fund of MGIMO.

The forum was focussed on promoting high-technology development and cooperation between Russia and Switzerland, and was addressed by the Russian deputy minister of industry and trade, Igor Karavaev, and the Swiss State Secretary for Education and Research Mauro Dell’Ambrogio, with MGIMO Rector, Anatoly Torkunov, addressing the forum on international perceptions of Russian modernization.

IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano addresses MGIMO students

Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Yukiya Amano, met with the MGIMO executive and addressed students on May 17.

The MGIMO visit was part of Director General Amano’s five day Moscow visit, which included meetings with Sergey Ivanov, the head of the Russian Presidential Administration, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin, and Rosatom head, Sergey Kiriyenko, as well an address to the plenary session of the General Assembly of the World association of nuclear power plant operators, and visits to nuclear facilities in Moscow and Tver.

MGIMO Hosts First Russia - ASEAN Youth Summit

The First Russia — ASEAN youth summit took place in Moscow on May 13–14, organised by the ASEAN Center at MGIMO together with RIA Novosti.

Under the motto ‘From dialogue to strong communications’ the summit was welcomed by I.Morgulov Russia’s deputy foreign affairs minister, the rector of MGIMO, A.Torkunov, and Singapore’s ambassador to Russia, and chairman of the ASEAN Moscow committee, Lim Kheng Hua.
