Deputy Foreign Minister Opens Conference on Middle East at MGIMO

November 28th, the conference «The Middle East: trends, challenges and threats» was held at MGIMO University.

The opening ceremony was attended by the Russian President’s Special Representative for the Middle East and Africa, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Mikhail Bogdanov and the Russian Ambassador to Kenya, Yugoslavia and Algeria Valery Egoshkin. On MGIMO’s side, the University’s Vice-Rector for Human Resources Vladimir Morozov, the Head of the Middle East Club and students participated in the event.

MGIMO At International Forum «Primakov Readings»

The International Forum «Primakov readings» opened on November 28th at the World Trade Center in Moscow.

The Chairman of the Organizing Committee and Aide to the Russian President, Yuri Ushakov (1970 MGIMO graduate) and the Director of the Institute of World Economy and International Relations (IMEMO) Alexander Dynkin kicked off the event by extending a warm welcome to all participants.

Anatoly Torkunov, MGIMO Rector, together with Samuel Charap Senior Fellow for Russia and Eurasia at the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) acted as moderators for the first working session dedicated to cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region and entitled «Asia-Pacific: Area for cooperation or tensions?».

Andrey Baykov at QS Global Employability Ranking Launch

November 24th, in the framework of the 12th exhibition and conference of QS-Apple Asia Pacific Professional Leaders in Education taking place in Malaysia, QS made an official presentation of the new Graduate Employability Ranking. MGIMO’s Vice-Rector for Graduate and International programs, Andrey Baykov, participated in the discussions.

In 2016, MGIMO improved its position in the Graduate Employability Ranking, moving up from the 151–200 range to the 101–150 range. It also took the very first place worldwide for one of the criteria considered in the rating: the graduate employment rate in the year following graduation.

Valentina Matvienko Speaks at MGIMO on a Single Educational Space

November 23rd, MGIMO hosted a meeting of the Board of the Integration Club chaired by the Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matvienko. The event was dedicated to issues relating to the development and implementation of a coordinated policy for science and education within the framework of the Eurasian integration project.

Valentina Matvienko kicked off the meeting by noting that the Eurasian integration process depends on young people’s knowledge and training, which have a decisive impact on their ability to understand their counterparts abroad. Creating a coherent policy in the scientific and educational sphere is essential to a successful integration process. Valentina Matvienko emphasized the fact that creating a single educational space is a priority task for members of the Eurasian Economic Union and the CIS. The Chairperson also noted that one of the goals of this ambitious project was to improve the quality of education for all parties concerned.

MGIMO Soars in QS Graduate Employability Ranking

November 23rd, the international rating agency QS published the second issue of its Graduate Employability Ranking of Universities (GER).

The Graduate Employability Ranking was launched as recently as last year, but has become in this short lapse of time very popular. The GER project allows the general public, according to its creators, to get some insight into how universities cooperate with the potential employers of their graduates, find out which universities graduates are the most in demand in the global labor market and which ones become the highest achievers professionally.
